The Challenges
In Afghanistan, food insecurity remains one of the most urgent humanitarian issues. Many families, especially those headed by widows or displaced by conflict, struggle to afford even the most basic meals. Children go to bed hungry, and malnutrition is a growing threat to public health — especially in rural and underserved communities.
Our Response
Dewa Trust’s Food Bank initiative was launched to directly address hunger by providing consistent access to essential food supplies. Through well-organized distribution drives, we deliver food parcels filled with staple items such as flour, rice, lentils, oil, sugar, and more — tailored to meet the cultural and nutritional needs of Afghan families.
We work closely with local partners and community volunteers to ensure that aid reaches those who need it most, with fairness, dignity, and care.
Impact
Our food distributions have reached vulnerable households in regions like Kabul, Nangarhar, and Helmand, especially during critical periods like Ramadan, winter seasons, and post-crisis recovery phases. Each parcel delivered not only eases immediate hunger but also brings emotional relief to families who often feel forgotten.
What’s Next
We aim to expand the Food Bank to include mobile food units and fixed community distribution points in additional provinces. Our goal is to create a sustainable network that ensures no family is left behind, no matter where they are.
